Revolution in the World of Reading - Amazon's Kindle


We live in a digital world. We are always surrounded by some gadgets. But there was a part of our lives which was untouched by the revolution in technology - reading books. We all love reading books. Sitting in a quiet room to read a novel is something what we all do during long holidays. But these experiences are going to be extinct soon. We now have electronic e-book readers which are completely changing the world of reading. One of the most famous among them is Kindle from Amazon.

Amazon is considered as the largest online retailer in the world and in 2007 it released its first electronic reader Kindle. Kindle is both a software and hardware platform to read e-books. The digital e-reader supplied by Amazon is the hardware platform which uses Kindle software platform to display e-books. And the same software Kindle platform can be used on other hardware platform like iPhone. After the original Kindle, Amazon also released improved versions of its electronic e-book reader - Kindle 2, Kindle DX.

How does Kindle stand out as an electronic e-book reader?

First of all, it is easily portable. You no more need a bag full of books to carry. Just put the Kindle in your pocket and you are done. Weight of this e-reader is less than one book. Kindle does not need a computer to function. You can connect to the wireless Internet free of cost and download any e-book you like from the huge collection offered by Amazon. There are more than 3 millions e-books available to choose from. There are other features which have made kindle the bestseller in the market. You can access your e-mail account on the Kindle itself while you are reading an e-book. You do not need to log in to a computer to do that. You can also use twitter on your Kindle. In simple words, a Kindle gives a real reading experience along with other technological advantages and all of us need technology to make our lives simpler and efficient.

The initial release of original Kindle had some technical issues but in later version all of them were rectified. Later in October 2009, Amazon released its international version of Kindle 2 and the product was shipped to more than 100 countries. The release of international Kindle DX has already been announced and it will be available in market during January 2010. With the release of Kindle 2 and Kindle DX, Amazon has become the most trustworthy seller in e-readers' market.
